The Beatles Explain Why Music Matters

Well, really it's the Why Music Matters organization USING The Beatles to explain why music matters, and they did a really good job. The organization, which focuses on anti-piracy, made this almost 2-minute long segment filled with great music, fun artwork, and a good message. Check it out below.

Download Cut Copy's New Song FREE

Cut Copy's new song, "Where I'm Going," is available to download for FREE on RCDLBL. It has a very familiar, classic rock sound. I definitely hear some Beach Boys, Beatles, and The Who in there.

Paul Joins Ringo On-stage for his 70th Birthday

Today is Ringo's 70th birthday, and they threw quite the party for him last night at Radio City Music Hall. Throughout the night, everyone from Yoko Ono, Joe Walsh, Steve Van Zant, Jeff Lynne, Nils Lofgren, Max Weinberg, Gary Brooker, Peter Asher, Dave Stewart, and Ringo’s son Zak joined him on stage. However, my favorite part would have to be when Paul closed out the night with Ringo playing the Beatles' "Birthday." Check out the video below, and click HERE to read more Ringo bday details.

Happy Birthday Ringo!

Nike and Andre 3000 Cover The Beatles' "All Together Now"

I recently came across this Nike commercial with Andre 3000 covering The Beatles’ “All Together Now” on PerezHilton. I am a HUGE Beatles fan, so I love that their music is still so prevalent in society. Well done Nike.

Rolling Stone Readers Rank The Beatles as Most Influential to Rock

In the reader survey detailed in the April 29th issue of Rolling Stone, 67% of the 1,744 readers that responded believe The Beatles to be the most influential group in the history of rock and roll. I, of course, agree.

The survey also revealed these nuggets about the responders:

  • If required to give up all forms of entertainment for one week except for one, 64.7% of readers opted to keep music.
  • The average number of songs on their iTunes libraries was 6,370.
  • Readers spent an average of 11.5 hours per week listening to music.

You can check out details of Rolling Stone’s reader demographics at http://www.srds.com/mediakits/rollingstone/demographics.html

I found another article about these results on Radio Survivor that you can check out at http://www.radiosurvivor.com/2010/04/28/more-than-half-of-rolling-stone-readers-still-listen-to-music-radio/
